Muharram refers to the first month of the Islamic Calendar. The complete month of Muharram is sacred, according to the Muslims. However, it is the tenth day that is of most significance.
I have the privilege to live near a greenbelt in Sacramento and encounter all kinds of people, joggers and runners, bicyclists, short and long-distance dog walkers, and those walking in pairs or by themselves.

Several years ago, I attended training at Kaiser South Sac to become a Spiritual Care Program volunteer. The training was led by the Hospital Chaplain, Reverend Elias Burgos, who is still there today.
The Oak Park churches are coming together for the Oak Park Peace Walk. Every Thursday, they will pray and walk the neighborhoods, introduce themselves to neighbors, tell them why we were out there, and invite them to walk with them.

Juneteenth is now the newest Federal Holiday, passed by President Biden last year. It commemorates the announcement in Texas in 1865 that slavery had ended after about 250 years of slavery in North America, colonial America, and the US.
This month’s interfaith adventure is the “Power of One” annual awards program put on by the Interfaith Council of Greater Sacramento. It was presented as “An Evening of Unity” and was held on May 22nd at the California Museum. We arrived early and were able to go upstairs and see wonderful hands-on exhibits.
Given the recent tragic news of school mass murders in Texas and violence around the country, the Interfaith Council of Greater Sacramento (ICGS) invited people of faith and conscience to join in an interfaith prayer meeting.
