Interfaith Prayer in the Intl World Peace Rose Garden

Given the recent tragic news of school mass murders in Texas and violence around the country, the Interfaith Council of Greater Sacramento (ICGS) invited people of faith and conscience to join in an interfaith prayer meeting. With only two days’ notice, 21 individuals gathered at the Sacramento World Peace Rose Garden. They represented a broad spectrum of faiths and beliefs. Each person offered a few minutes of prayers, scripture readings, poems, chants, and/or songs for peace and healing for those who died and those who were left behind.

ICGS is committed to promoting respect, understanding, communication, and cooperation among faith traditions. ICGS seeks to advance spiritual values, religious tolerance, and religious freedom to create a healthy and vibrant society.

The California State Capitol World Peace Rose Garden is located in downtown Sacramento at 15th Street near L Street. The gardens are intended to be living reminders that peace begins within the hearts of each one of us… in our thoughts, in our words, and in our actions.
