This field trip was organized by Rachel and Dave Lyman and the Interfaith Explorers. The goal? To learn about the temple, the site, and the Abbot who lives on the property.

They did this field trip in 2015, but it was my first time there.  There were about 25 of us. Someone took us around the back of the temple, where we met the Abbot of the Temple. He spoke of the hours he spends pruning all of these plants and bonsais that are all behind the temple and how meditative it is.  I think that is one of those common ground things we can all understand.

He talked of the history of that particular temple, of the first Abbot, when they bought the land and how they have developed it.  Now, after years of work, the temple is built, and they hold Vietnamese and meditation classes as well as services on Sundays.

We were then led upstairs to the meditation room, where we had a short meditation session.
We felt extremely welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
