On September 24th, 2022, the Interfaith Council of Greater Sacramento had the opportunity to volunteer at Loaves and Fishes in Sacramento. The board members from different faiths came together and served lunch to the unhoused community members of Sacramento.
The day began at 10:00 a.m, and upon arrival, we were informed that the food was already prepared and ready to go. Then we were given instructions by the Kitchen Runner, Tami Jones, and the Kitchen Supervisor, Nikki Rongey, as to how to serve and how much to serve. We began serving lunch at 10:30 a.m, and we lined up at the counter with each of us with a specific task and trays of food that we had to serve in the to-go containers. The lunch was served to over 200 guests until 12:30 p.m
