Juneteenth

Juneteenth is now the newest Federal Holiday, passed by President Biden last year.  It commemorates the announcement in Texas in 1865 that slavery had ended after about 250 years of slavery in North America, colonial America, and the US.  Even though it’s inconceivable to me now that anyone thought another human being was able to own another person and the generations of people that came afterward, it is our history, and we must recognize that it was such.

How can we move on as a nation, when the thinking that another human being is less than another still exists? By taking Jesus’ commandments to heart.

Jesus commanded us thus:
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1 John, 4:7
