A Unifying Moment for the Realm’s Diversity

From the President’s Desk

Watching the coronation of King Charles, the interfaith element stood out to me.  Striving to be the unifier of language and religion of the Realm, Baha’i, Jewish, Sikh, Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu participated to a very small extent – but still, it happened for the first time in a Coronation.

This shows that the King is aware of the diversity of His Kingdom, and he is not ignoring that but trying to bridge the gaps between the diversity.  Diversity in itself is a good thing.  It’s when people refuse to accept the changes that have already occurred, or worse, wanting to go back ‘to better times’, when things were more homogenous, that conflict occurs.

Science tells us that we are one species, our genome is very similar to each other, even when we look very different from each other. Our different looks are a minuscule part of our genome and are not based on anything important.

Our religions tell us we are all one people, created by God or other higher power(s).  Regardless of the differences, our creation and Creator is our unity, as one people, one human family.

Let King Charles accomplish unifying his people, from all backgrounds and religions.
