From The President’s Desk
The Oak Park churches are coming together for the Oak Park Peace Walk. Every Thursday, they will be praying and walking the neighborhoods, introducing themselves to neighbors, telling them why we were out there, and inviting them to walk with them. Law Enforcement is present as a way to introduce officers to the neighbors in a non-threatening way.
I walked with them on July 7 and immediately felt welcomed into the group. We prayed, were handed flyers, divided up into groups, and went walking!
The people we met were willing to listen and thanked us for what we were doing.
The walk will move to different churches in August and September.
I’m encouraged to see people are concerned about what’s going on in our streets and are trying to find ways to make things better.
