From The President’s Desk
Happy 4th of July to a new year of the Interfaith Council!
Last week we ended our 2021-22 year and are beginning a new one.
Our accomplishments for the year:
- 2 Interfaith Prayer Services for disasters
- 2 Service Projects
- Attended 2 services at Houses of Worship
- Continued our Panel Discussions called Exploring the Sacred
- Had a wonderful Power of One Celebration
We are looking to bring even more people together in conversation and in service, bring youth into the interfaith conversation, and engage more congregations in interfaith work in the Sacramento area.
As far as patriotism is concerned, can you be a non-Christian and be patriotic? Of course, millions do! Can you be an immigrant and love America? Of course, millions do! Can you think America is a wonderful country and see that it has problems? Of course.
America’s diversity is a strength. Having different perspectives, experiences, education, and backgrounds gives America leverage for us to work together to make the country stronger than before. The history of immigrant entrepreneurship stretches back to the country’s founding, and many of the newest and brightest entrepreneurs are immigrants. Immigrants of all religious and cultural backgrounds from around the world come to this country looking for opportunities.
Let us embrace our diversity as a country and see the benefits at all levels of society. Only through the unity of all people can we truly have a great, just, and equitable nation that welcomes all, encourages all, and helps all to achieve all they can, whether born in this country or not.
