Community! It’s something that people have been thinking about during the last 20 months.  We have been separated and kept away from each other for our own and others’ safety.  But that has led to feelings of isolation and loneliness and has exacerbated depression and anxiety.  But why?
Because God has created us as social creatures, dependent on each other, interconnected with each other. After a long sleep, we long now to be with each other and feel connected once again.  It is starting slow, with small social gatherings, plays and sports games going on, and children busy again with after school activities.

I participated in something wonderful on Saturday. A community mural project at Common Ground Church in the Valley Hi area – a wonderful church that has a garden and fruit trees.
The Sacramento Office of Arts + Culture commissioned local artists to create a community-based mural for the walls bordering the property.  They invited the community to come out and paint!!  How did it work?  The artists painted the outline of the mural onto the wall and put in numbers corresponding with the paint colors. Community members came out, grabbed a paint color, and started painting!! It was painting by numbers but on a huge scale! They had music, food, and entertainment.

I went by afterwards to see the finished product.  What an awesome experience!!
If you live in the south area, I would definitely encourage you to stop by to view the entire wall.

Thank you.
