The Interfaith Council of Greater Sacramento and the Baha’is of the 4th Congressional District of California want to say Thank You to our Congressman Tom McClintock for his recent co-sponsorship in the US House of Representatives of H. Res. 109 which condemns Iran for its state-sponsored persecution of its Baha’i minority and its continued violation of the International Covenants on Human Rights.
This Resolution also calls on Iran to release all prisoners held solely on account of their religion. Calls on the President and Secretary of State, in cooperation with responsible nations, to condemn Iran’s continued violation of human rights and demand the release of prisoners held solely on account of their religion. The bill also urges the President and Secretary of State to impose sanctions on the Iranian government officials and other individuals directly responsible for serious human rights abuses, including abuses against the Baha’i community of Iran.
The issue of religious freedom is very important to people all around the world and we very much appreciate Congressman Tom McClintock’s help with his co-sponsorship of the Resolution.
