The Interfaith Council of Elk Grove (ICEG) was formed with a mission of understanding and respecting the differences while honoring the similarities among our faith communities. In December 2020\, the ICEG began sponsoring a monthly Interfaith Prayer Devotional with the hope of uniting Elk Grove’s diverse faith communities around a belief all share: the power of prayer. \nThe devotionals are held via Zoom on the second Friday of each month at 12:30 pm. Each monthly devotional focuses on a single theme and five participants from five different faiths share prayers and readings from their holy text on that theme. \nSince the first Devotional\, almost forty participants from nine different faiths have shared inspirational readings and powerful prayers rooted in the tenets of their faith. These monthly devotionals have fostered an enduring community and a strong sense of kinship among those who have participated. The hope is that the monthly Interfaith Prayer Devotional will continue to serve as a light to Elk Grove and as a demonstration of the universal kinship of all faiths throughout the Sacramento region. \nThe theme for the Devotional on November 12\, 2021\, is Gratitude and Humility-Foundations of Inner Peace. The Zoom Meeting ID is: 380 858 2642 and the Passcode is: unity. \nIf you would like additional information about participating as a prayer panelist or attending the devotional\, please email Ellie Snell at elhamsnell@gmail.com or Jennifer Gibson at jen.gibson@comcast.net. We hope you can join us![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Together for Earth! A Celebration of United Nations Day
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, October 24th at 3:00 PM – Please join the United Nations Association of Sacramento for this year’s United Nations Day Virtual Celebration! \nThis FREE virtual event will be a timely\, relevant\, and stimulating presentation and discussion on the current state of Climate Change. \nEvent Description\nUnited Nations Day on October 24 comes this year on the eve of one of the most important international meetings ever convened by that body. The November 1-12 United Nations COP-26 Climate Change Conference in Glasgow will determine whether our nations can unite sufficiently to save ourselves from what the last three U.N. Secretaries-General have all proclaimed to be the greatest threat humanity has ever faced. But we cannot save ourselves without also protecting the natural environment on which we all depend for survival. The threat is global; there is no safety for some apart from safety for all. This crisis can be met only if the world’s peoples\, as both nation-states and societies\, come together in common effort\, for each other and for the planet we call home. \nSpeakers \n\nElk Grove Mayor\, Bobbie Singh-Allen\nInterfaith Council of Greater Sacramento Board Member Dave Lyman\nCompassionate Capital Region Founder\, Laura Hansen\nPSR/Sacramento President\, Harry Wang\nNadine Clopton\, Vice President\, Global NGO Executive Committee\, NGO Youth Representative to the United Nations\, International Youth Activist\n\n\nTo register for this event\, please visit our website: UNA Sacramento Official Website
